A firm of China unveiled a prototype of the
world's first lightweight subway car body made of carbon fiber.
The cars will be lighter, use less energy
and release fewer emissions, as well as being safer.
The advance will lead to the mass
application of carbon fiber as a material in the area of rail transit, noted
the post.
The car is 35 percent lighter than
traditional metal-body subway cars, which will reduce wear and tear on the
rails.
